Athletico's cup triumph
ATHLETICO banished their blues of previous finals by comprehensively outplaying Old Kings Head to record a 57-run triumph in the final of the Weston Midweek League Stevenson Memorial Cup for second and third division teams.
Overcoming the loss of an early wicket, Neil Coleman hit a rapid 51 and at the halfway stage a mammoth total looked possible, but John Payne grabbed 4-38 and only a late flourish from Pip Munden (24 not out) enabled them to post 140-6.  Old Kings Head started briskly and with Rob Tasker at the wicket anything was possible, but his dismissal for 20 heralded the end of the challenge.  John Munden nagged away, taking 4-32, and with Neil Coleman taking 2-9 and Pip Munden 2-16, the innings subsided to 83 all out.
